Falcons celebrate 2009-2010 at team banquet
The boys basketball program celebrated the 2009-2010 season at the team’s annual yearend banquet on Sunday April 25, 2010. The even was held at the Sheraton hotel and was a culmination of great effort by the parent club.
The evening started with a viewing of the season’s highlight film. Many of the season’s top moments and exciting finishes were captured on tape and played on the big screen before the audience.
After dinner special guest speaker, Jerome Allen, addressed the crowd. Allen was recently named as head coach of the University of Pennsylvania. Coach Allen came to Penn after a long and successful playing career. One of the best players in the history or Penn basketball, Allen scored 1,518 in a Quaker uniform and was thrice All Big Five. Allen was a second round draft pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves and also played for the Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets. Following and long and successful professional career in Europe, Allen was enshrined into the Big Five Hall of Fame in 2009.
Coach Allen addressed the crowd on topics such as the importance of playing for your teammates rather than yourself and also seizing opportunities when they are presented. He stressed that there are very few people who are successful on their own, but rather successful because of others.
Following Coach Allen’s speech, junior varsity coach Rick Baxter introduced each of the JV players and presented them with their certificates and gift bags.
Coach Sciolla then briefly spoke about each varsity player and then presented the boys with their letters and certificates.
There were several individual awards given out.
The Falcon Playmaker Award, which signifies the team leader in assists, was given to senior Jesse Krasna
The Good Hands Award, which is a statistical award that combines assist, steals, deflection and subtracts turnovers, was presented to senior Zak Kumor.
Zak Kumor won the Fearless Falcon Award, given to the team leader in charges taken.

Two awards were decided via a player vote. The 3D Award, given for the player who best exemplifies Drive, Desire, and Determination was won by Zak Kumor.
The final award was Team MVP, which was won by Jesse Krasna.
Following the awards the five underclassmen each spoke to the audience about one member of the senior class. Jay Jabat talked about Mike Ciotti’s humor and personality. Zach Sibel spoke about Chris Liccione’s work ethic and intensity. Kris Hassell talked about Jesse Krasna’s determination to be excellent.
